I wanted to bring this new venture to everyone's attention.
Ring Argyll has just opened for business after 5 years of consultation with local people. This organisation has been established as a co-operative with its members coming from any type of business within Argyll, Bute and Arran. That includes agriculture, forestry, fish farming, haulage, construction, advisory services and tourism but certainly not limited to them.
The idea behind the organisation is simple. Members of the ring supply services, labour or machinery through the Ring to other ring members.
As an example, a member requires an extra tractor to help with harvesting. He contacts the Ring, which contacts the most appropriate and nearest supplier of a tractor and charges a modest commission to cover its overheads.
Another example, a member runs a guest house but would like some additional training. He/she contacts the Ring which contacts a member who supplies an appropriate tourism training course.
The main advantage of the Ring is that one phone call will get you competitively priced goods, services and training courses. The list of products and services will grow as the Ring expands. Note that the Ring does not generate profits for shareholders or investors; its function is purely to benefit members and their businesses.
If you are interested in becoming a member or are looking for more information, contact the Ring manager Colin Cameron using one of the following methods.
