Just heard that the cave painting of the crucifixion on Davaar Island has been spray painted by some mindless vandal
That painting has been there since 1887 and no-one has ever vandalised it before. What on earth possessed someone to do this? I really hope the culprit(s) are caught.

Its unbelievable that someone could even consider doing this! We crossed to Davaar on the 20th and the painting was ok then... I hope that, if the report is true (and I'd prefer it if it wasn't!), the painting can be restored!

Have just been told that the whole painting has been covered with paint and Symbols of Che Guevara sprayed on the face. Police are treating it as criminal vandalism. They just can't leave anything alone....

What else can we say.
Mindless vandal's who we hope are caught and severly punished.
This well know painting so visited by many and admired, also small crosses and bits and pieces left at the base of it.

MINDLESS IMBECILES!!!!!!!!
When caught, what type of humiliating community service can they do???
Can the painting be saved? or will it be lost to the ages.
Shouldnt be to hard to track them down given the number of people that are usually walking over and back. Once found let me have them for a day or two!!!!

I feel heart sick at this news. What sort of person would do such a thing? Can we put together a reward for information leading to an arrest? Assuming, of course, the culprit(s) aren't already out of the area.

Spoke to Ronald Togneri today who told me about it, disgusted is the the only term that comes to me.
He said that the damage is quite serious and would be a big job to put right.
The owner of the island is looking into insurance etc for payment of restoration.
Everyone, please put your ear to the ground and find out anything you can about this mindless act, and that the perpetrators can get what's coming to them.

I have posted comments on this on a couple of other forums, but doubt that the people responsible will be caught - unless someone comes forward and names them! There is also a chance that they've not left the area as they are possibly local.
I also think someone should get a photo of how it appears now... if people see what has happened they might be more inclined to help towards restoration!
Darnit!

Don't these vandals have anything better to do than hike over the Dhorlin to destroy an artifact??
Shame on them!
I agree with Petewick - let us get a hold of them wee buggers!!!
