BAND SCHEDULE AND NEWSLETTER – 23rd JUNE 2005.

Congratulations to the Following Prize Winners
The George McIntyre Memorial Composition Competition – Andrew Thomson.
Pipe Major Tony Wilson Memorial Trophy – Fiona Mitchell.
Kintyre Music Festival Chanter Competition – Stephanie Andrew.
Kintyre Music Festival – Bagpipe Competition – Fiona Mitchell and Fraser Wylie.
Yamaha National Music Instructor of the Year 2005 – Ian McKerral

Summer Holidays
K.S.P.B. will have a complete break for the 2 weeks after the European Championships in Northern Ireland on Saturday 25th June.
Band Practices for both bands as normal will resume in the Grammar School during the school holidays on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at usual times, commencing Tuesday 12th July. Practices are of course just for those who are available – don’t worry about missing anything if you’re going off on holiday at some point.

Payment Due Dates
Tain – Supporters – 14th June.
Glasgow Supporters – 28th June.
Tain – Band Members – 28th July.
Glasgow – Band Members – payments waived.

June 2005
Sat 25th – at 9.00pm – Pipeline recording from Campbeltown on BBC Radio Scotland.
24th to 26th June – European Championships – Banbridge – both bands.

July 2005
Sat 1st July – Solo Piping & Chanter at Strachur (own travel arrangements)
Tues 19th July – Inveraray Highland Games – solo piping (own travel arrangements)
Sat 23rd at 4.30pm – Street Performance at Cross/Old Quay Head – all available band members (both bands) – assemble 4.00pm at Stewart Green
Sat 23rd at 6.00pm – Southend Highland Games – both bands (coach 5.15pm); also solo piping – enter on the field – if in doubt, go on give it a go.
Fri 29th to Sun 31st July – British Pipe Band Championships – Tain – both bands – (full final information will be issued to all involved on Tuesday 12th July)

August 2005
Sat 6th – K.P.S. Invitational Competition – Campbeltown.
Sat 6th – Street Performance in Main Street – 2.00pm – Novice Band only. (1.30pm at Stewart Green) – all available band members.
Sat 6th – Street Performance in Main Street – 7.30pm – Juvenile Band only. (7.00pm at Stewart Green) – all available band members. (Possibly also Ceilidh in Argyll Hotel later on – juvenile band)
Fri 12th/Sat 13th - World Pipe Band Championships – Glasgow – both bands.
Thurs 18th/Sun 21st – Mull of Kintyre Music Festival:-
Thurs 18th – Young Folk Night at Heritage Centre.
Fri 19th – Festival Ceilidh Night in Victoria Hall – 7.45pm – the massed bands of Kintyre Schools to perform a stately set of tunes to launch the night!
Sat 20th – Festival Parade at 12.30pm, followed by Harbour Splash, including both KSPBs, scheduled from 1.50pm to 2.45pm. Later Burnside Bash – 5.30pm to 7.00pm
Sun 21st – Survivors Night, Victoria Hall – juvenile band – time T.B.C.
Thurs 25th – Argyllshire Gathering Games, Oban – Solo Piping.
Fri 26th – Cowal Games, Dunoon – Solo Piping.
Sat 27th – Cowal Pipe Band Championships – Dunoon – both bands.

September
Sat 3rd – Street Performance – 7.30pm in Main Street– Both Bands.

October
Sat 1st October – Visit by Strathclyde Police Pipe Band – workshops, joint Street Performance, and K.P.S. Recital.
Sat 15th Oct - MOD – Benbecula – Solo Piping
(?) Date T.B.C. - Festival of Juvenile Solo Piping – Saltcoats

December
Sat 3rd – Tartan Army Dance in Victoria Hall – (Juvenile Band)
Sat 24th – KJPBA Coffee Morning, Town Hall.

March 2006
10th and 11th – KJPBA Concert and Dance – Victoria Hall.

April 2006
Sat 22nd – K.P.S. Junior Competition and Stronvaar Ceilidh – both confirmed.

July 2006
Tues 18th – Inveraray Highland Games – both bands performing.

Summer 2006
Juvenile Band – Trip to Canada.
Provisional Dates approx – Wed 26th July to Wed 9th August.
We expect to be able to confirm proposed dates and provisional costs during July 2005. A letter will be issued to parents, and a meeting may be convened at fairly short notice, in the interests of trying to book flights as soon as the airlines announce 2006 schedules and costs.

Sat 24th June – British – Pitlochry.
Sat 29th July – European – Gourock (Novice Band only if Juvenile Band in Canada).
Sat 12th August – Worlds – Glasgow.
Sat 26th August – Cowal – Dunoon.
