Aqualibrium Prizegiving
Name the Building Competition prizewinners and their guests joined Council Convener William Petrie and local Councillor Alastair McKinlay at Campbeltown Library on Monday evening (23 May) to receive their awards.
The competition was won by eight year old Castlehill Primary School pupil Caitlin Ronald who came up with the name Aqualibrium. Caitlin explained that Aqualibrium means aqua = water, libr = library and ium for gymnasium. It also sounds similar to equilibrium, which means life balance.
Chair of the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay Area Committee Councillor Alastair McKinlay said, “The ongoing enthusiasm for Aqualibrium is now building in anticipation of its opening early next year. We were delighted with the response to the Name the Building competition and would like to thank all the people who put forward a suggestion. We are very pleased that Convener Petrie was able to travel down to Campbeltown to attend the prizegiving. The building now has an identity and name which is unique to Kintyre.”
Convener Petrie said, “I am very impressed with the building and the progress that has been made to date. This facility is long overdue for Campbeltown and Kintyre and it speaks volumes that the community have come together to get a name and identity to reflect the values of 21st century health and wellbeing.”
