There is also a competition to name the building!

Exciting to see the building going up which is desperately required. Looks pretty impressive. :P

Pity the same can't be said for Kinloch Green which now has a new loch on it!

The name will indeed be announced on Argyll FM and in the Courier on Friday.

Courier will also have a full list of prizewinners in each of the four categories from the naming competition.

I think people will like the name - it's pretty unique!

It does look impressive, tho' being one of the residents opposite the site,

I was at a couple of the public meetings & don't recall it being quite so

impressive height wise! As far as I remember it was 3 levels, but in a

staggered fashion, so the front would only be 2 storeys, looks more like 3

to me! Do you think that's it or are they gonna stick another one on?

Having said that I'd rather the town had the facility & it is set farther back

on the Green so maybe we Kinloch Roaders will get some sunlight thru'

our windaes!

It is actually a very clever name and a good choice. I was waiting for the usual Kinloch, Campbeltown, Kintyre, Kilkerran ones so this is refreshing.

Doesn't matter what the name is Willie, as you say most people will say 'doon at the pool'...

Took this picture last week.

Anyone got an update on this?

Can't see it being open by October - only started on the roof.

Does look quite an impressive structure, nevertheless.

Aqualibrium Prizegiving
Name the Building Competition prizewinners and their guests joined Council Convener William Petrie and local Councillor Alastair McKinlay at Campbeltown Library on Monday evening (23 May) to receive their awards.

The competition was won by eight year old Castlehill Primary School pupil Caitlin Ronald who came up with the name Aqualibrium. Caitlin explained that Aqualibrium means aqua = water, libr = library and ium for gymnasium. It also sounds similar to equilibrium, which means life balance.
Chair of the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay Area Committee Councillor Alastair McKinlay said, “The ongoing enthusiasm for Aqualibrium is now building in anticipation of its opening early next year. We were delighted with the response to the Name the Building competition and would like to thank all the people who put forward a suggestion. We are very pleased that Convener Petrie was able to travel down to Campbeltown to attend the prizegiving. The building now has an identity and name which is unique to Kintyre.”

Convener Petrie said, “I am very impressed with the building and the progress that has been made to date. This facility is long overdue for Campbeltown and Kintyre and it speaks volumes that the community have come together to get a name and identity to reflect the values of 21st century health and wellbeing.”
