Surprised there hasn't been a thread on it so here goes. What are your thoughts so far?

I was going to say I was looking for some serious chat GG but can see you get the usual pish from some. :D

Felt sorry for Ghana tonight - they should have won. Thought Netherlands played great today and had a sneaky feeling they could do it.

It has been a funny World Cup for me. I have been disappointed most of the time with the quality of the football.

Unfortunately there have been too many teams with a negative mindset, especially in the early rounds, that have just tried to stifle games. However, despite some cruel luck, some daft ordering offs and the odd dubious refereeing decisions, I think the best teams have largely reached the last four. I would have preferred to have seen Argentina there instead of Uruguay but that was not possible with the draw.

I thought European teams would dominate and the best of them have come through. Paraguay and Uruguay have done better than I anticipated. I also thought most of the African teams would get through the first round. In fact the one African team, apart from Algeria, that I did not expect much of was Ghana after losing Essien, but they were only a crossbar width away from the semi-finals.

The ball has been a mistake. Free kicks hit directly at goal are now a bit of a yawn as they virtually always go miles over.

Germany and Spain should be a cracking game. Not so sure about Holland and Uruguay. I hope Spain win it as they play the best football.

" Paul" the octopus has picked Spain over Germany --if it is correct again its doin better than "some " who claim to know form

" Following the quarter-final prediction where Paul correctly guessed Argentina would lose to Germany the Argentineans threatened to kill the octopus and put it in a paella."

I wonder if the Germans win, will the English media stop spelling Ozil and Muller as Oezil and Mueller. I always thought they used too many E's. It's honestly not that hard, the proper spelling is written on the back of their shirts. That's a pretty big clue. And I'm not having the excuse that that's the anglicised spelling of their names because no one calls the Spain striker Ferdinand Towers, now do they?

Can't agree that Spain have played the best football this World Cup TYM. They have been rather boring to be honest. I hope the Germans gub them tonight. Another 4 will do fine. 8) 8)

They were however, the best team tonight and played some great football. Germans only played when Spain scored.

'Mon the Dutch!
