Barry Ferguson straight back into the Scotland Team?

Postby A Horse called Juan Face » Sat Sep 30, 2006 1:56 pm

Regardless of what you think of Barry's abilities, I think it is scandalous that Walter Smith has come out and said that Barry will walk straight back into the Scotland squad.

Scotland have had some very good results recently and which one of the players that has served Smith so well so far deserves to be replaced?

Added to this, Russell Anderson has been consistently the best defender in Scotland over the last year or so, and cannot get a game. Why? Because Smith has been loyal to the men in possession of the jerseys. Why, then, does this plan change as soon as Barry comes back on the scene? No wonder people think there is a conspiracy in Scottish football. Also I see Kevin McNaughton has received a call-up as soon as he leaves Aberdeen. Hmmmm.

Anderson has been playing out of his skin and Ferguson plays like a quadraplegic most of the time.

I'm not happy.

I'll be a bit annoyed too if he gets a place in the starting line up - I don't think he is particularly on form. He was outclassed by Scott Severin and Gary Dempsey yesterday. Before anyone gives it the 'red tinted specs' I'm not suggesting Seve starts either, I think we have other midfielders who should be ahead of them both.

I've been happy with Walter so far but the Face is right, by accommodating Ferguson he is showing double standards.

In a way I know Walter probably wants him in the team bearing in mind his style of play and who our opponents are, but he is no longer one of out top central midfielders.

Still, if he plays I'll be there and getting 100% right behind him.
Should Scotland be an Independent country?

Yes, I believe Scotland is a country and should therefore govern itself.
No, Scotland is not a country it is simply part of the UK and should therefore be governed from London.

Rangers play better without him for the most part as well.

The most overated player since Paul McStay.

Ferguson Required

Postby FACEMAN » Mon Oct 02, 2006 6:40 pm

I heard on the news today that Quashie(think thats how its written) is out injured .So it looks like Ferguson could be required. Eg he will take Nigels place and that should stop any controversy as in if one of the midfield was dropped. :)

I would rather have Quashie for the France game than back pass Barry .Fergie would be more suited to the system we play in away games (Ukraine)

Back pass Barry or rash and 3 yard pass Quashie who gives the ball away.

Have to disagree with that last point - If you have the ball then your opponent doesn't. Depends what the score is though I suppose.

Keepin the ball when you are winning is what all good teams do.

Horse i am a member of an elite fighting unit forced underground and still wanted. Back to the topic. Fergusons reputation may help us against france . As in they may be running scared having heard he is playing. :)

Quashie is out so end of debate Fergie will play in both matches. Hope he keeps up the form he has had in the last few games for Rangers. But still along way from the player he was in the 2002-03 season when he scored 18 goals . Has not produced anything near that level since .That is why i don't understand all this hype about him in the last couple of seasons when he has been crap. I also was not happy about Eck wasting the Boumsong money bringing him back from Blackburn.
