What are you reading just now?

Have your say....

Just coming towards the end of Silent Killer, a bit confusing at first, there were so many families involved in the story, but it turned into a very good tale. I keep deciding whodunnit, then changing my mind, so I really don`t know.

Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly is another in the Harry Bosch series. This time Harry has to leave L.A.and travel to Hong Kong to rescue his daughter who has been abducted by a Triad gang.A below par Connelly novel is still miles better than most.

Just finished Skin and Bone, by Kathryn Fox. She`s billed as another Patricia Cornwell or Kathy Reichs, but I wouldn`t go quite that far, although I did enjoy it. Took me a couple of pages to realise it was set in Australia, at first I thought America, then UK, but it was Oz. Am just about to start Fallen Angel, by Kevin Lewis. I read one of his books a while back, Kaitlyn, wasn`t too sure what I thought of it really, but the synopsis for this sounds OK, so will give it a go.

"Lullaby Town" by Robert Crais is one of the early novels in the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series. The usual fast paced one liners from L.A P.I. continue to make him one of my favourites.

"Alex Cross's Trial" by James Patterson is very poor, and only goes to emphasise the slippery path to mediocrity that Patterson is on.

As said earlier, we were reading a Rebus book in our Reading Group - everyone loved it! We had tried Paterson before and he did not go down at all well. I like Rankin in that there is not just one story but a lot more going on. Also, it's great for the patter and the locations. Mr Govangirl never reads fiction but lying in a hospital bed all week made him cry out for something to do and I took in the book (Black and Blue - a story around the Bible John case). He loved it and is now into reading them all.
Anyone else into Rankin?

"Heat Lightning" by John Sanford is the second in the Virgil Flowers series.Thoroughly enjoyed it,and just as good as his previous "Prey" and "Lucas Davenport" series.

I`ve read quite a bit over the Christmas period, TV programmes being what they were, am now reading Dead Tomorrow, by Peter James, another in the Superintendent Roy Grace series. I do quite likev Peter James, but most of what I`ve read have been older stuff, this is more up to date.

Not only have I had no time recently for the forum I haven't been managing much reading other than Heat and Grazia magazines! Classy stuff!! I have just about finished Pattersons latest Michael Bennet tale and am halfway through Audrey Niffenegers "Her fearful symmetery" (author of the time travellers wife). -ts billed as a modern day ghost stiory but has a whole host of weird and wonderful characters!

Hello there Ags, I thought we`d lost you!
At the moment I`m reading C.J.Sansom`s Revelation. I recently read Dark Fire by the same author and was very impressed. There are 2 others previous to these, I`ve just bought Sovereign, and am on the lookout for Dissollution. If you like medieval murder mysteries, you`ll love these books.

I loved Revelation, have since read Run for Your Life, by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, a new detective on the block, Michael Bennett, a widower with 10 adopted kids. Am now in the middle of Kill for Me, by Karen Rose. Haven`t read her before, still making my mind up.

Hi numberplease - I'm not lost - just need another few hours in every day. I have just finished Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly - a first for me! Don't quite know why I have never read any of his books before!! There is a huge back catalogue for me to catch up on. What are the recommendations - Harry Bosch or stand alone stories??

I`ve also become a recent convert to Michael Connelly, thanks to recommendations from Bill.
I`ve just read Black Market, by James Patterson, one of his earlier efforts, and quite unlike anything of his I`ve read before. It was OK, but not really to my taste. I`m now almost at the end of Long Lost, by Harlan Coben, a fairly recent Myron Bolitar story, and actually quite enjoying it, I normally prefer the stand alone books by Coben.
Hi again Ags, by the way!
