Sounds good to me :D
We got "American Slang" but not had a minute to listen yet, it just arrived today.
I have just put on the second dvd after reading your posts again.....probably not sensible at nearly 11.30 but desperate to see the rest of the concert! If you ask Iain what his favourite Springsteen song is, it changes weekly, but more often than not comes back to American Land. Look forward to seeing it.

There is a really good interview with The Boss and a cracking review of the London Calling DVD in the August edition of Mojo Magazine. Springsteen confirms that he hopes the band will remain active over the next decade when questioned about touring!! The Kintyre Forum branch of the Bruce Springsteen Fanclub may manage a concert together yet :) It's exactly a year since we went to Dublin - where has it gone??

Don't know if anyone caught him on the News this weekend as he was apparently in London promoting his new release:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/oct/30/bruce-springsteen-darkness-edge-town

The release date is 17th November and I simply cannot wait - despite the cost :<> The cheapest I've found is Amazon at £79.99 but if anyone finds it cheaper, let me know.

It's such an iconic album marking a very important period in his recording life and on this anniversary, the message is every bit as relevant today.

The box will include three CDs, including a remastered version of the original album plus a bevy of outtakes, 21 unreleased songs among them, three DVDs containing six hours of live and studio footage, including a 1978 Houston concert when Springsteen and the E Street Band were in the midst of their most storied tour and a 90-minute documentary. An 80-page book containing images of Springsteen’s original lyrics and notes from the sessions will also be part of the package.
'Darkness' marked the centerpiece of a particularly prolific era for Springsteen, with more than 70 songs in play for the eventual 10-song album. Some of the outtakes made it on to later albums, but a few are surfacing only now, including 'Save My Love for You' which I've heard many times this week on radio.

Here’s a list of the bonus songs to be included in the set, including Springsteen’s version of “Because the Night,” which became a hit for its co-author, Patti Smith:

THE PROMISE (DISC 1)

1. Racing in the Street ('78)
2. Gotta Get That Feeling
3. Outside Looking In
4. Someday (We'll Be Together)
5. One Way Street
6. Because the Night
7. Wrong Side of the Street
8. The Brokenhearted
9. Rendezvous
10. Candy's Boy

THE PROMISE (DISC 2)
1. Save My Love
2. Ain't Good Enough For You
3. Fire
4. Spanish Eyes
5. It's a Shame
6. Come on (Let's Go Tonight)
7. Talk to Me
8. The Little Things (My Baby Does)
9. Breakaway
10. The Promise
11. City of Night

Besides the documentary and a live 2009 performance of “Darkness on the Edge of Town” in Asbury Park, N.J., the videos will include the following vintage concert and studio performances:

THRILL HILL VAULT (1976-1978)
1. Save My Love (Holmdel, NJ ‘76)
2. Candy's Boy (Holmdel, NJ ‘76)
3. Something in the Night (Red Bank, NJ ‘76)
4. Don't Look Back (NYC ‘78)
5. Ain't Good Enough For You (NYC ‘78)
6. The Promise (NYC ‘78)

8. Badlands (Phoenix ‘78)
9. The Promised Land (Phoenix ‘78)
10. Prove it All Night (Phoenix ‘78)
11. Born to Run (Phoenix ‘78)
12. Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) (Phoenix ‘78)

HOUSTON '78 BOOTLEG

13. Santa Claus is Coming to Town
14. The Fever

22. Born to Run
23. Detroit Medley
24. Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out

I ordered it for Iain's birthday and paid a wee bit more than that GG. Glad you have posted the release date though as he was just asking today when it would be arriving! (His birthday was September  ). Saves me checking for my receipt! Iain said there was a brief glimpse of The Boss on Daybreak this morning from the red carpet at the weekend.

Bruce, a Kennedy Honoree. This is great - 'I'm the President but he's the Boss!' I love it!

It's interesting to see the other artists cover his songs but really, nobody sings Springsteen songs like Springsteen!

I've got quite a big birthday coming up soon, I'm hoping it'll be wrapped up for me as a huge surprise. :D

On a totally separate note, I'm going to see Ryan Bingham next week, and thought this might please Ags and GG, both on the ears AND on the eyes. There's a wee bit of Bruce on there, but much more Country.

I'm in the same boat as Sheik , the hints are all over the place and the special birhday will be just great to deserve an amazing package as this will be?
Can't wait to watch the concert recorded in Asbury Park , last year , without an audience? Apparently there is a lot of information from Max on how he can tell what The Boss is going to do next just by watching what his body does? Plus Bruce puts everything into this show , even although there is no audience , creating the original stark atmosphere of the original '' Darkness ''. The Promise should also be worth waiting for , the Delux Package is a wee bit on the expensive side , however the quality and quantity of the material it comes with will be fasinating and totally worth it.
I for one can't wait for Nov. 16th.
If anyone is interested- Play.com have a release date of 15th Nov at £73.99(list price £120.99)

Well, Sheik and Frosty, I hope you have a very fruitful and HAPPY birthday. And thanks for that news on Play.com Frosty, that's a really good price.

You both say you are having a 'special birthday' coming up - are you both 60?

  Yep, you're so right but as Bruce himself says on the Darkness album:

'There's a darling woman on the edge of town
And she's an octogenarian
And she's hot.'

I know it is well off topic but...........

I was instantly reminded of "Katie Biscuit Hips" who used to sit in The Rex cinema always in the same spot.Downstairs, right hand side,a few rows from the front next to the radiators where she would sometimes wet herself and then hang her knickers over the radiator to dry.

Thinking of Katie has put me in mind of Sadie Cinnamon, but that's another story.
I know my Summer'll never come
I know I'll cry until my dying day has come
Let the Winter roll along
I've got nothing left but song
