And then there came ITV. The ads were a real novelty.

You'll wonder where the yellow went, when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent.

It's Victory V Weather again, Victory V,V,V. Weather again.

I also sat uncomfortably. The original Quatermass series on BBC 1 scared the living daylights out of me.Very little of the horror was shown. The imagination was left to run riot.Proper T.V!

I can't have been very old but I do remember an advert with a whistle and then someone saying, "Cheese please Louise".

Quartermass and the Pit - perfect sci-fi noir. One of my favourite films. Don't remember the telly series, though. Then again, we didnae hae a telly until 1963. Coin operated.

How could I have forgotten Savine? Daisy May always looked like a little sod pretending to be a little angel! And the dog was brilliant!
Going musical, anybody remember Eve Boswell, Diana Decker, and the whistler, Ronnie Ronalde?

In the days of light entertainment there seemed to be random acts such as Winifred Attwell at the honky-tonk piano and a very thin chap who would squeeze himself, doubled over, into an upright tube until just his bottom was sticking out, wiggle it, then disappear into the tube.
Oh! How things have changed.

From the Whitehall Theatre, yes. He must have lost his trousers in quite a few of those plays!

The Army Game was another good laugh. Then there was Dixon of Dock Green and Fabian of Scotland Yard, which usually needed lots of police car bells in each episode.

And Bootsie and Snudge was a spin-off from The Army Game.

Bootsie, (Alfie Bass) was so nicknamed because he always wore white plimsolls, as he was officially "excused boots" by the army, due to flat feet.

Where does all this inconsequential crap get stored, only to be dug up 50 odd years later?!!!!!
An enjoyable human trait, though.
