Firefox Web Browser - an alternative to Internet Explorer 6

Postby Malky » Thu Sep 22, 2005 8:24 am

The latest version of this excellent web browser was released on Wednesday 21st September and is available for download here. It's on version 1.0.7 now.

Also the Opera web browser, which is now on version 8.5, is now being given away for free. :D It's available herefor download.

These 2 browsers are the best alternative to Internet Explorer 6 which is bloated, slow and allows all manner of spyware and malware into your computer.

I'll endorse Firefox. Never looked back since I started using it instead of IE. It's a LOT more secure, and it has some brilliant add ons to Download, such as "Download ALL", which basically lets you DL everything on the page. Great for pics etc.

I've seen the future, and its Firefox

the bad thing about firefox is that you have to download all the plugins like windows media player and quicktime etc
Another thing i noticed when i was going through some tutorials for photoshop, was that it doesnt work with some flash navigation bars.

Its not really because you cant access any FTP with it.
IE always comes up with errors when i use it.
Accessing FTP with firefox is really poor aswell.

I also use OPERA 8.53
Opera 9 Beta 2 is now ready for download. With integrated torrent support, widgets, content blocking, thumbnail preview, customized search and improved standards support, browsing hasn't looked so good.

Firefox 2.0

Postby daftdog » Wed Dec 06, 2006 11:42 am

Just installed Firefox 2.0 and its just as good as the previous version, but with some changes, like each tab has its own exit button.

I've not downloaded IE 7 as its a waste of time with Firefox being so damn good.

My bank works great in Firefox (Clydesdale Bank Plc) so no need for at least one piece of software from Mr Gates and friends.
So slowly but surely i am getting rid of Microsoft products.

I've installed SUSE Linux 10.0 on my laptop and am slowly getting used to it. I've also been using OpenOffice for a while now and its just as good as Office from Microsoft.

A handy wee titbit of info is, while i have been writing this, Firefox is using a spell checker on my text. ( i downloaded the UK dictionary add-on for firefox)
