Between Low and High Ugadale

Postby Mary G » Sat Jan 13, 2007 6:45 pm

This is by the bridge, between Low and High Ugadale on the Carradale Road, before you climb up the hill towards High Ugadale. A couple of miles south of Saddell.

Allt-na-Bèiste is the name of the burn, and is also used for the area round about it - the nearby shore and the field ... or at least that was the case circa 30 years ago.

What a gorgeous photo - it looks magical.

Not so fast Auld Reekie. This information was handed down to a select few over the generations and I wouldn't want it getting into the wrong hands too soon. My informant was born in the 1800s and could easily have learned the awful truth from somebody from the late 1700s.

Before you could say 'Spring Heeled Jack', it would appear authoritively on another local based web site, complete with third rate photographs.

Now Bochan, don't let them sarachy rascals chisel you any further than they already have. You've already given them far too big a clue. If they were meant to know the answer, then it would have been passed down through the families like it was amongst our own. You wouldn't need to ask those with descendents in Waterfoot, Portrigh or the Shore Road twice, but then there's damn few of them left.

Mind you, we need to watch what were saying on here incase it's construed as being racy or was it racist? It's fearfully quiet in the village thread at the moment and I canna understand why? I expect things will get busier again when Morenish finally pays his phone....... I mean comes back from New Zealand.
Don't jeest leave it at yer erse, everything has a place ....................so keep it Pongal!
