New photo album being added

Postby Ship called Dignity » Sat Sep 24, 2005 8:20 am

I am in the process of adding a new photo album of John Gillespie's wonderful pictures of Kintyre.

Fo now, I have just added the first disk all on one page.

Does this load okay (especially anyone with dial up) or do you think it would be better to use smaller images such as thumbnails? Anyone with any other ideas?

Major thanks to John who has given me these images to share with you! 8)

As I said, still to go LIVE but here is a sneak preview...(especially for you Dorian ! :D )

I think you need thumbnails Davie. Not everyone has broadband. You always have to think of the lowest common denominator. :)

I'm going to change the look and feel of the page now that I have started to add the copyright.

For now you will see I have changed it various thumbnails - will change it again but for now it will load quickly.

Will have this done in the next week or so. From the site's point of view an excellent addition and thanks to John for this.

John gave me all of these on disc when I was home in April before he copywrote on them. They are splendid and a few hang in my hall way for all to see. Thanks John :-) from your wee Cus.

Sorry about that Debi - I put the copyright on them - which actually spoils the photos.

I have a few more albums to add so I will see John about leaving that off

No worries David, I understand why people have a need to protect their work!

Maybe put the copyright in a different spot, where it's less obtrusive?

Great photos of course. John an Ace at this.

Putting the copyright in a different place depends on how much you want to protect your images. Less visible marks are a lot easier to remove or crop out.

I know John has had his pictures appear in places he knew nothing about. Some have also appeared in magazines with his permission, so I would be inclined to protect them as much as possible.

Absolutely. It's tricky to achieve a good balance.

I'm a dab-hand with the old airbrush.

Just noticed a new set of images on John's page have been added - under Disk 4 at the top and these are not copyrighted (if that is a word?)

Looks far better this way - perhaps the p just needs to add a general copyright for John's images - afterall you can get them off of John on CD and bang goes the copyright then!

As long as John has the originals postdated/ marked copywrote, whatever you wish to call it. His work is protected regardless which hands they fall into!

Re-design

Postby Ship called Dignity » Mon Oct 24, 2005 11:49 pm

I have redesigned these pages now I have a better idea of what I can do with the images! 8)

Anyway, if you go to

http://www.visitkintyre.info/johngillespie/index.htm

you'll see there are only a couple of images displayed initially and links to Photo Albums along the top. The link to beautiful kintyre in particular shows how I have thought about laying out pages of images in future.

Can you please give me your thoughts?

Thanks

PS - Cheers to John again!
