Nice one, JD, but surely not with your itty-bitty Canon?

I had another go at the Moon last night.
Not quite as sharp as yours but that's probably got more to do with the operator than the equipment. I need to think about investing in a multiplier lens.

JD what camera have you got?
I have a Canon EOS 500 which as you will know is for film only. I am hoping to get a Canon DSLR 30D some time soon. I will only buy the camera body as the EF lenses I have will fit straight on. That way, me being a tight old git, I don't have to pay extra for lenses.
I had thought at one time that a Sony would be my preferred choice, but the price plus lenses on top made it kind of silly money for someone not in the slightest proffesional.

Cool pic by the way. Keep em coming dude :D

Pete

Only mentioned Canon in reply to Gary (not who's or model  ), but picture was taken on a Canon EOS 5D  (check out review) owned by my friend and Garys next door neighbour ( also owns a G3).

Myself, I own a Canon Powershot G3

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canong3/

which I have had for over two years and is just about due a MOT. Bought on e-bay for £180 as a refurbished model with all extras, but like new. Not into too much of the fancy stuff, just the point and press mode or view bagging. You won't go wrong on your choice. Right, I'm away now, its howling time.

Don't need to worry about horizons here Gary boy, but you'll need to invest a wee bitty more money on your Panasonic  to catch up on a Canon 8).

By the way, nice photo, tried to copy it tonight returning from Oban, but no tripod.

My goodness Morenish, that was some hangover that you've had. I haven't seen sight nor sign of you this year. I thought you'd gone the same way as bubbly jock or even worse. Auld Pongal said it was you that was felling the trees on Hogmanay and that you had been lifted by the CN constabulary and held indefinitely under anti-terrorism legislation. I poured your dram before mid night, sure in the knowledge that you'd make your way over the threshold, but damn the bit!

Is it not March that is meant to come in like a Lion?

January did, but if forgot to depart like the proverbial lamb. Jeest gort as they say, with even the fermers ploughing their fields in their black ties and suits, anticipating the next planting. Ach aye, it's a hell of a time of year, but at least the spring is around the corner.

No, the local skippers have been struggling to get a wee slant, and the only spoot to be had is the Wood. Talking of which, did you see the wee hoose at the foot of the brae is up for sale. Just as well these walls canna talk, as it would take some time. From the now fifty somethings to Killybegs Neilly and all the other in between. Whatever became of Killybegs Neilly? Did he leave the village alive? Broken fences, missing kippers, smashed up hoose, money scattered on the road, no forwarding address, valuables left behind. No one knows, or do they? What was the tattoo on his back?

Aye the full moon brings out the drollness right enough and talking of which, what have you done to poor Sanyanya? He'll be feeling the cold terribly just now, unless you've parked his erse down the side of that range. With all this avian flu that's doing the rounds just now, I hope that you haven't locked him up in the coop with yer hens and bubbly? No, he wouldna do living in such close proximity to those dusty feathered dinners on legs. If he breathes in any of their dubious exhalations, it could cause a terrible headache for Snoddy, who couldn't be seen dirtying his troosers in a well fouled shed.

I couldn't help but notice that JD & the bay raker are trying to pass off blurred photos of salmon ova as close ups of the moon. Jeest as well the likes of you and me get up early in the morning and won't be taken in by any of that nonsense. At this rate, all that they'll have left to capture will be themselves.

I heard that you were seen spreading fertiliser on the football pitch in the dead of night. By jove, there's no being up to you. That's one way of making sure that you can parade up and down Wellpark from March to October, stuffing green backs into the breast pocket of Colin Effie's bib and brace like it was a bottomless pit.

AVIATION FLU

Postby Snoddy » Mon Feb 12, 2007 7:57 pm

Far be it from the truth that I have been treating Messers Morenish & Sanyanya for Avian flu. Indeed Aviation flu is far more virulent with international explorers like our intrepid duo and this could be the key to the survival or demise of the indigenous population of the village of Trumpton.

Hand shaking and sneezing and not necessarily in that order are the ideal vectors for the spread of many unwanted diseases, but all too often it is not the hands that the unfortunate recipient has been shaking. Where is all this leading you may ask? Well who knows, but due to patient confidentiality, I will have to leave it there. Watch out for the man with a none too typical stoop and bandy legged gait!

Only family Yahoing please!
Dr Snod Esq.

Two spoonfulls of Halibut-Liver Oil, Morning & Evening. You know the surgery hours, so don't bother me at any other time. I most certainly don't get paid enough.

Any resemblance to Snoddy's past and present are purely coincidental!

So what were the two Police patrol cars doing late last night, a-tearing up from Campbeltown with their lights a-flashin'.

Thought it might be a Flying Squad from the Poultry Divison, acting on a tip off as to the whereaboots of Bubbly Jock but if that were the case they must'a gone home empty handed. So much for stool pigeons.

It takes more than ONE police car to tackle Bubbly! Teach them to come into his stomping grounds... 8)

Police at Tormhor, Flagellation & the depths of depriva

Postby Right Pongal » Wed Feb 14, 2007 7:22 pm

Dark nights for Dark deeds as they said at Waterfit!

What the devil is going on in this village? The Sweeney from the toon flying up the road and staking oot a hoose in Tormhor..... Is this what happened White Van Man? As if that's not bad enough, we have some goat offering trans atlantic flagellation wae his own hide to some poor souls that he's never met. Wait till Mrs Goat gets a load of this. He deserves to be flayed, but maybe not until the next Lifeboat day at the Quay. What do you reckon, a pound for two cracks of the whup and a handful of salt?

We've even been dubbed wae a wide, tobacco-broon-stained, hairy brush as failing children. The poor souls apparently couldn't have been brought up in a worse place than the UK. Neglected, left wanting..... did you ever hear such tripe and onions. The wee bugg*rs don't know they are living and into the bargain, answer to no one.

The rude awakening doesn't come until they have to fend for themselves. A couple of decades of being spoilt senseless followed by the realisation that the credit card has to be repaid and that all along somebody was paying for the everlasting hot water and excessive illumination is often too much to handle. The cuckoos fly back into the nest to the parents who are still lyiing like a pair of kippered spent herring in their well trashed living rooms.

Never mind, it was good to sea JD's splendid photos of the Norwegian boat punching doon the Sound. She looks like a big chunk of a boat. How many bunks are doon the focsle JD? I don't suppose you're working with condensed milk and gorilla's heids aboard there right enough. Do they do you a good breakfast , or is jeest thon continental thing?

Anyway, good to see you back at sea. Who would have thought it was nearly 20 years. Either I'm getting old or you are!
Don't jeest leave it at yer erse, everything has a place ....................so keep it Pongal!
