Penned in 1999.
The brightest star to shine in the sky on the darkest winter's night,
Sweetest rose in a fragranced garden, graceful swan in delicate flight,
The soft breeze which compliments a summer sky of blue,
All of these life's delights remind me Mum of you.
On this mothering Sunday I think of all the years,
A home filled with love and laughter, protection from any fear,
You were the rose which sweetened my life, through happy times and sad,
And quietly I give thanks today for the wonderful mother I had.
I dedicate these written words to daughters everywhere,
Who long to have their mother on this special day to share,
Search for the brightest star to shine, the rose which blooms each year
When you find them you shall feel her presence ever near.
