Calum McPhee - Get well soon!!

Postby Ship called Dignity » Sun May 01, 2005 12:12 pm

Just found out today that young Calum McPhee (aged 7) was hit with the ball yesterday at the Boys football game.

From what I know no-one noticed and Calum trooped home witn a sore hand. As it turns out Calum has fractured his wrist in two places and had to go to Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow to get the cast set!

Sorry to hear this and everyone at Campbeltown Boys AFC would like to wish Calum a speedy recovery.

Best Wishes

Ouch! My eldest son did that a few years ago. A green-stick fracture that looked horrific on the x-ray but which mended fine.

It's bonkers that Calum should have to go all the way to Glasgow to get a cast set though, unless it was a particularly nasty fracture. Don't they do casts at Campbeltown hospital?

Yes they do, but there could well be internal problems such as suspected nerve damage. In a child so young it's better to be safe than sorry. Yorkhill is a specialist children's hospital and having had one of mine there I can say the care and expertise is excellent :)

That's a relief then. None of ours have needed much in the way of bone-mending (aside from the aforesaid eldest son) but with kids you can never tell when the next emergency is going to happen.

Cheers
