Camping near Campbeltown

Postby yorkshire lass » Thu May 05, 2005 10:23 pm

Hello all :D

Can anyone recommend a good campsite? Planning a visit at the end of May in our motorhome.

Any recommendations of what to do and see while we are in your beautiful part of Scotland?

Thankyou

Try http://www.muasdaleholidays.com/

About 15 mins from Campbeltown. You pass it on the way. :)

For things to do and see go to http://www.visitkintyre.info and check the To Do link. :) :)

To Do

Postby Ship called Dignity » Fri May 06, 2005 11:09 pm

Yourskshire Lass,

Regarding things to do - what are you into? Kintyre is certainly suited for the outdoor type and a lot of these are covered in the site but I need to work on this and will, through time, get there.

Muasdale is an ideal location - on the west coast and within easy distance of everything north, south, west or east!  You can catch the ferry two miles north of there at Tayinloan to the Isle of Gigha which is well worth a visit. Your 15-20 minutes away from Campbeltown and the south of Kintyre where there is plenty to do....

Depends what you like doing I suppose but it is well worth the visit!

...and if you fancied being over on the Arran side of Kintyre then there's the site at Carradale as well: http://www.carradalebay.com/

Mmmm Carradale Bay looks good too! We are going to be arriving via Arran so that one might be quite handy. Thanks Gary

We have two young children with us, so they like the beach. We like to find out about local history and traditions and are really looking forward to visiting Campbeltown. Heading upto Oban afterwards, hopefully we will get chance to visit Gigha another time. Thanks Dave

Having looked at the Muasdale site I'm impressed too. Maybe better/wider range of amenities there but you can't get much closer to the beach than Carradale.

There are a few more local bits'n'bobs at the following sites:
