Photo of the Year

Postby Ship called Dignity » Wed Jul 13, 2005 10:51 am

Thinking about doing a photo of the Year competition. Do you think this would be a good idea?

The photo of the week will be posted on a weekly basis and then a poll would be run to find which one the users like best. The 12 monthly winners would then go in to the final and you can all vote for your picture of the year.

Will also get a prize set-up but my thought was to win an all expenses paid night out with Bubbly Jock doon at the chip van!

Anyway here is a tester on last months..

Karen's view towards Southend and Sanda etc

Mine of the wee man - Lorne at 4 days old (ps - you can't vote as I know this would win! )

Not much use if your mailbox is already full, or is this a trick by Davie P to fend off any competition.

I think it's a very good idea, but maybe I'm biased! :D (Thanks for all votes so far).

night out

Postby bubbly jock » Fri Jul 15, 2005 7:31 pm

Sorry Neilsie,

You won't get me near the chip van. They sell bits of my relatives in batter down there. Well at least that's what it says on the menu. Turkey Burgers and I'm not keen to have my photo taken. They don't sell wolf burgers and Jeanie the wolf is usually available though if you need a partner.

Davie, can you tell me where Drip and Malky have gone. They both appear to have vanished

You pick your socks by their colour and your friends by their character. To pick your socks by their character is silly and to pick your friends by their colour is unthinkable

Doh!

Firstly you have to be logged on.

Secondly you just select the photo you wish by hitting the radio button next to the option the click submit. Could't be easier!

Postby bubbly jock » Fri Jul 15, 2005 10:22 pm

Thanks for the info Linda.

Isn't it nice to see those poor fermers getting a wee break.

He'll have plenty to read on here when he comes back unless he is in one of yon cyber cafe's reading this from frogland.

Davie,

I think the photo of the year is a brilliant idea. Although I know John Gillespie would win hands down, (maybe i'm just a wee bit biast). I have some of his art in my home in Virginia Beach. He's just got the natural eye for the camera. I love the work he does!

Aye it is Bubbly Jock, considering he, and every fermer, work every single day throughout the winter...Saturdays, Sundays, New Year's Day, Xmas day....every beep beep day........October to May........when the rest of the country is lying hungover, the fermer always has his work to do and always does it.........................

Agriculture is the ONLY true essential industry......sure every single poor soul on this earth has to eat......yet a never ending supply of cheap food is taken for granted.........some day there will be a shortage and maybe, just maybe the people that produce the food will be appreciated......though I dont think so...............

And I know Bubbly Jock is just on the wind up   sure he is involved in TWO essential industrys..............!!

Malky will be back............15th July = Corncrake day..... wee in reference for the fermers.........

Noo I am going runnning...........then work all day..............

Thats the problem with fermers, they believe that they are the only primary producers on this planet, and that all grants, subsidies etc should automatically be allocated in their direction.

'Man can not live by bread alone' said some wise old sage. If fermers were economists, they would know that fish, coal, oil etc, are also the product of the toils of primary producers. Indeed fishermen, as the last of the 'Hunter Gatherers' are more primary than the fermers. At least the poor fermers get to sleep in their own bed at night.

One things for sure though, with all the Landed gentry pulling the strings down in Westminster, if there's grants to be distributed, they will be going landward before they go anywhere else.

Its good to see that 4th Gen is out running though, as rumour has it that a certain 'Big Pussycat' is going to test his stamina in August, on and off the park. This time away from the eagle eyes of the match officials, who had to rescue the big cats prey the last time they lined up in opposition!
