There's an exercise involving a number of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft between September 4 - 9 at Machrihanish.

Notification to CCC stated that there would be a significant amount of flying activity in the vicinity. Out of hours flying has been authorised and noise disturbance may be experienced in some areas. The purpose of the notification was to provide notice of military related activity, particularly helicopter flying and movement of military vehicles. There is a requirement to avoid disturbance to livestock and damage to property. I have contact numbers for any enquiries or complaints if this should happen.

Cheers Nancie - wasn't a complaint - just curious.

Good the base is getting used for this.

The N.A.T.O base in Campbeltown is taking in massive amounts of aviation fuel at the moment to provide enough for forthcoming exercises. The pipeline from there to the drome is currently being inspected and will be opened up again. All current fuel at the drome is being taken down the road in bowsers and is too costly.

That's interesting. We sw some C130s and choppers out there on Sunday and wondered what was going on for a 'care and maintenance' base.

Cheers
