The homographs of "-ough" would confuse anybody:

The bent bough was used by the shipwright as the bow at the cutwater .The bow was fashioned from a bent bough and the drawstring taken across the ends. The lassie had a bow in her hair. Yer Rite Pa! , Damned Right ! Wright! Write! OK!

I've read that for a person unfamiliar with either language, it is more difficult and confusing to learn English than Chinese :shock: Don't know where I read (red, read) that :lol:
