A famous fish restaurant had a large tank full of live fish in the foyer.You go in and choose which fish you want to eat and they cook it for you.They also had a pet squid.It was unusual in that it was luminous green with a hirsute appearance to the top of it`s beak or lip.As it was a pet,it was therefore sacrosanct and could not be eaten.
One evening,the restaurant was heaving.So busy,that the management had to bring in some of the"backroom staff".
One of these was a German dishwasher called Hans.A diner called him over and said that he would like to taste the luminous green squid.Hans netted it from the tank,had it cooked and served it to the diner.
The owner discovered this and fired Hans on the spot.
The local newspaper got to hear of this and ran the following headline.......(sing this bit)"Hans that does dishes has been sacked in disgrace over the bright green hairy lipped squid."(Sorry.) :oops:

Theres one out of one of the Rebus books that is very similar, the punchline is Now Hans that does dishes feels as soft as gervais with mild green hairy lipped squid. But Rankin never actually prints the joke in the book.
