In the tributes, I have heard him referred to as a great peacemaker twice now? Did I miss something?

I believe there will be a two minute shout at his funeral.

Controversial, certainly. But Paisley, in later life, became a critically important player in the NI peace process. If former IRA member and DFM, Martin McGuinness, can tweet: 'I have lost a friend,' that says something.

He was a sectarian, racist, homophobic, arrogant, hateful bigot with too much blood on his hands who worked very hard to hold back the peace progress. It was only when he achieved the power he so desperately coveted that he played the peace game. But his history will be polished :(

Sectarian, undoubtably. Not alone in that in the politics of Northern Ireland.
Racist, not sure where that one comes from.
Homophobic, I know his son was outspoken about this, never knew he was.
Arrogant,he was a politition.
Bigot, someone who is intolerant to those holding different opinions. OK maybe.
Blood on his hands?

I wonder what Northern Ireland would be like without him. Would Blair have just abandoned it as some thought.
I am led to believe his constituents in North Antrim, of whatever persuasion, thought he was a good MP.
If McGuinness, a man with blood on his hands, could see some good in him maybe there was more to him than first glance.

I always thought of him as a larger than life comical character, when I did think of him.
He was obviously a man of deep conviction, his contributions to the peace process cannot be dismissed.
Like him or loathe him, I am in both camps,

I would never say a word against the man but this site is funny as hell....

http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ian_Paisley

If you're offended, tough, get a sense of humour and take the site for what it is, a wee bit of fun and in some cases with a bit of truth thrown in.
While you're there, do a search for Salmond, hilarious.

Bigot, adequately describes this vile piece of sectarian, right wing, Presbyterian scum. :D
