For you the rat - you the meat,
Say squeak - then cry - scream squeaky squeak squeak

Sorry wee thing - noo kiss yer weans awae,
No fur need - nor empty pot - nor starvin wean,
Yer life tae end - awe in vain,
Coronation Street - is on again.

Carbon fuel drives the car
Heats the home - nursery school
How dependent am I - on dirty fuel
Drives the bus and the train
Thomson Holidays take the strain
It boils my kettle makes my tea
Carbon fuel plus dependee

Haiku format revisited.

Earth revolves, evolves; sunlight on a seagull's wing reflects what once was.

The giant Ash Grey battleship,
Steams towards Blighty,
Awash with kids, plus,
The battle scarred, the khaki clad,
Spitting out machine gun,
Rat at tat tat - Dunkirk spirit,
Sir Francis Drake and Lady T,
Union Jake, afternoon tea,
Blinding ash and tabloid trash.

Awe the weans, oot playin,
Mammies shout fae windaes,
Mind an play, wur a kin see ye,
Screams and shouts, kick the baw,
Kick the baw,here's yur Maw, kick the baw,
Right noo

So there you are,
Snuggled between the volcano,
And Campbeltown drug dealers,
Time to bring you up,
Rekindle the fire, so to speak.

Slipstream.

For Dawn, who recently lived.

In the slipstream of my memory,
In a half-forgotten dream,
I thought I caught a glimpse
of gold, glinting in a stream.

I thought I saw a chestnut mare
Running free across a beach;
Reminiscent of a rainbow,
So near, so out of reach.

And linen white and denim blue
Were the colours that belonged to you
For cloudy days and starry nights
I saw reflected in your eyes
When life was still a sweet surprise
And if I had the chance again
I'd re-arrange
But I don't so...

I drank some water from the stream,
It seeemed so fresh and cool.
I plucked some thyme from the waterside
And brought it here to you.

Puzzle - go on work it out,
Pick, squeeze - hang it out to dry,
Outwith - auld thinking,

Aesop told his stories but no one paid attention

Everyone's only looking for everything they can get

Kick the crutch cos you don't need it

Why so afraid, to have to stand on your own?

All your lies will become the truth

I'll prove it if it's all I do

With frick all left but fear

I'll watch you while your water's breaking

You wear the only crown you'll ever need

So you can sit and ask yourself

Who did I give it to this time?

These insults are your injury and you won't let it heal

Feel the romance in destruction

The freedom of depression

Find comfort in the arms of scissors
What am I if all this means nothing?


Paint yourself in these scars

The isolation of the masses
Adulation of the bereft


Let what's inside float away
To places where no one really cares


Love my solo canvas

So beautiful in red

My colour, my presence
Bringing infantile peace
