it can mean getting into a bind or a spot of trouble too, like if something is difficult or you are having difficulty with something, if its seriousit becomes a sarach hence a "wild sarach" which gave us the mildly amusing"thase lions ur wild and tame" meaning they are awfully docile.

sprachle, the ch being pronounced as in loch. meaning to clamber over or up some obsticle.

glaur, dirt, as in having dirty hands or face

blootered, having too much to drink, or generally kicking a football with force, usually over the bar or high into the top corner.

dunted, a slight bump, you can dunt yer heid onn something, dunt the car, or the one i preferred, gave the quay a dunt coming into harbour.

there are other words like skelpt and scunnered which are more likely to have glasgow origins.

added this post out of context, tried to edit previous post but i can't, edit function no longer works for me, not since the new system started

general, your edit function works.

Underneath your post as you are editing there is a long box that says "reason for edit" or something like that. I suppose you can make a long explaination or say, just cuz

I know scunnered. Does skelpt mean scalped?

it has several meanings, you can give a ball a good skelp, in golf this would mean it went a long way, or you couldgive someone a skelp, a slap, usually administered to the backside, a person with a rosy complexion could be said to have "a face like a well skelpt erse"

i notice we can expect a metaphorical skelp for having threads without a single main topic.

loused .................... to be finished work for the week, one is loused.............louw-sd

i'm scunnered

that had crossed my mind, but then i thought, why? and couldn't come up with a reasonable answer, would have been better off just deleting it as there were only a handful of hellos on it.

That was "hoora" funny! Definitely a good explanation.

Short sideline:

I was on the phone to another wee toonie pal and when I was done a colleague came up to me and was "very impressed I spoke another language!"

I just said: In ma heed it wiz this: "aye ta, nae bother at all! Didye naw ken that???"

Translation!

"Yes, thank you, no trouble at all. Did you know know that?"

Imagine what I could be saying on the phone and they would never know !!!!!!

Will need to sit down and make a list of some of the other fun phrases I have used here!
