The Fishing Industry...

There must be endless stories from the fishing industry in Kintyre.

Took this picture of the Crimson Arrow yesterday in Campbeltown Loch - one of the few remaining active fishing boats to fish out of Campbeltown.

Nice picture. I have a copy of the full version here that shows Deer Hill and the other side of the river.

St Andrews University Library claim to own the copyright to the original but, going by the stencilling, I suspect your copy has got 'Valentines' printed on the back.

Cheers

It is a nice picture though, and a good example of so many that have been taken of Carradale and the surrouding area over a long period of time.

I picked one up on Ebay just last week that shows a similar scene with a fishing boat bearing the registration CN3. Against this is reads Carradale on one side but the other side, where presumably the name would be painted, is obscured.

The current vessel bearing that number was build in the 1980s and so not the same.

Anyone care to suggest the name of the boat in this picture? Click on the picture to enlarge it.

It's a Valentines postcode and dated June 1952.
