Victoria Hall Bombing WWII

I heard somewhere that during WWII the Victoria Hall was bombed by a German plane with a crew member who had actually attended school in Campbeltown. Is this just an old wives tale - or is there any truth in it? The archivist for the Campbeltown Picture House would be interested to know.
