I used to hate the way topics would go way off track like this one has - now changed my mind & enjoying how one wee comment can open up a whole new debate.

I remember the Mayfair, Locarno & Royal or top, middle & bottom as they were known.
Where we went depended on which one was first to get the latest releases on their jukebox!

Annie, We used to feel so sophisticated drinking our coffee from the glass cups back then Many fond memories of all of the cafe's and the characters

Those were the days right enough...........we used to spend many an evening in the Mayfair cafe .....you did`nt even need to buy anything just a place to meet friends etc.........

After a few saturday beers A few of us would gather in the Locarno and order Hot Chocolate and Toasted sanwiches, the girls would ask how many ?, the reply was always the same, just keep them coming till we tell you no more, or till you run out of bread, which on a few occassions they actually did.
Then it would be up longrow to Hintons and buy sometimes up to 10, 7inch singles, then home to play them 1 by 1 and drive our mothers mad.
£7 a week went a long way in them days.

How about going up to McIlchere's bakery and buying saussage rolls or doughnuts at 2 a.m. - hahaha!

The toasties were good infact they were great.

But the Dale's Dollies, they were Hot, but I never got to taste any of them, but i tried, freekwently

TAP. i was sure you had tasted the dollies from the dale,but maybe you're not who i thought you were,the toasties and the coke in a glass bottle down the bottom end of the locarno were hard to beat,and a quick visit to hinton's before heading back to the dale with archie darroch.Ahh the good old days
