great run yesterday team and n.j. we set off at 8:30 for Tayinloan and did 13 miles  started off going round the village following the kintyre way route which took us way up into the hills to the turbines   we didnt have to go this far but one of the gang said "we cant come this far and not go to the windmills" so we had to  O.M.G. - that is my stretch of the run and it is a killer.

we were ably led through the hills by djd, who was on a taper so could come with us and we appreciated the encouragement and guidance :D -i was told - "respect the hills fiona" - this means they are not your usual wee inclines  as we all found out

one of the group has asked for a bit of guidance on how to handle the next 3 weeks to keep the legs fresh for the big day. I've had a rest day today, will do an easy 5-6 monday, tuesday a 4 mile tempo with w/up & c/down = 6 miles. Weds x/t or rest, thursday easy pace 8 miles, friday rest, saturday we are in for a treat at the carradale end of things with more killer hills and probably about 11 miles of them. this i reckon will be our last run of this length before the big day.

Please remember i am doing 15 miles and the lengths of the easy runs are to suit this, if your chunk is smaller then cut down a little.

Think we were all pleased with how we handled the training session, the legs were just about dead mind you by the time we had finished i'd done my 2nd half marathon in a week!!!!

On holiday today so took advantage of the sunshine this morning and did part of my chunk – from the forest track at Saddell to the Peninver spur just south of Lussa dam – 8 miles. Hubby dropped me off and met me at the other end with a picnic. I took it easy – walking the steepest bits and the scenic parts averaging 11 minute miles. Worst section was the hill at the beginning – very similar to the Ballochgair one with which we are familiar  Route very well waymarked, and as DJD said you just keep to the obvious main wide track and you cannot get lost. It’s 4.65 miles to Bordadubh – so if that could make a good ‘there and back’ route for Saturday with some moderately toughish hills along the way. Up to you Captain fiona28 :) . Oh, and have a look at Lucy Colquhoun’s blog – find via http://www.runfurther.com – inspirational stuff.
