Tree moss and dead leaves in sunshine look fantastic in late winter/extremely early spring. Bunlarie Wood is a great source of both.




Taken 23rd January, no snowdrops about but there was a week later.

On my way home from work tonight, I was pleasantly surprised to see this fine vessel anchored off Torrisdale. After my tea I returned with the camera. Perhaps someone could tell me the name of the ship as I couldn't get close enough to read it.

Over a year since this thread was used! I'd best post something then.

A couple of weeks ago I had a walk down through Oakwood. The wood is situated approx 1 mile down the Carradale road from Claonaig. There is a small car park to the west of the road with a picnic table and an information board. The wood itself is to the east of the road with the footpath starting by the small bridge over the burn.

Small waterfall on the same side of the road as the car park


Cross over the road, go down the path into the wood and this greets you


A little further on there's a fork in the path. The right fork takes you to a viewing area which overlooks this waterfall. Sadly, this is not the view you get from the viewing area. To get this view requires being adventurous and wandering away from the footpath.






Make your way back to the path and follow it down through the wood, keeping an eye out for deer


After a short while you'll reach this spot, which is where there is a small and not too difficult climb down to sea level


Once there, you'll see where the burn meets the sea............


..........and you can admire the scenery before setting off back

What lovely photos Crowth, you`re making me regret that I`m not very agile anymore, I want to do that walk, and make that little climb down to the beach.............but I know that I can`t

I'm sure with a good stick and a stout shoulder to hold onto nearby you'll make it Anyway, there is also a picnic table in the wood, about halfway in, which may be a good compromise for someone not too nimble on their feet.

Thanks Roger The path isn't too bad, if anything, it can be a little squishy in one or two spots.

Some of the Tall Ships passed down off Carradale today and it was mentioned that some may visit Campbeltown,unfortunately that did not happen,but we did have a visitor namely the Lord Nelson drop anchor in Carradale Bay.Pics taken at 9.30pm tonight on my spare camera,hence not as good a quality as my old Canon.

Lovely pics JD, it was a lot brighter there than here at 9.30pm.
