Machrihanish and Seabird/Wildlife Observatory.

Postby jdcarra » Sun Apr 01, 2007 8:10 pm

Sunday outing to the Observatory with some friends and met up with mine host Eddie McGuire were we saw a fine display of the work done by Eddie and collegues. Top of the range equipment, digiscope connected to camera and monitor, computer and dozens of pics to see. Lookout for new website of all his work shortly, some magnificient photos of wildlife and sealife. A visit well worth while.

The building fitted with all the mod cons.

A wee soft launch of the site will give you a chance to spot any errors for me! :-)

Have a couple of bits to tidy up and some recent photos to add but did well to get the 105 images on the photo gallery! 8) Hope you like it.

Was over at Machrihanish myself this morning.

Shot this photo of a King Eider whilst there.

These are arctic birds and only occasional visitors to our shores, so I was dead chuffed to spot it.

Really enjoyed the pictures. I have never seen a King Eider before. When I lived in Corpus I loved taking pictures of birds. I miss the pelicans especially, but all the water birds... The otter looks like a kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Some people die at 21 but aren't buried until they are 65.

A blustery November day at the Bird Observatory, unfortunately Eddie was shut for the season, no cup of coffee here. With a bit of luck the sun came out for a spell as I took these pics, before hand it was like a wild winters day.
