Leuchars airshow

Postby Buzz Lightyear » Sun Sep 14, 2008 1:05 pm

Took my youngest to RAF Leuchars yesterday, the weather was abissmal, but we had a good day out. the flying programme was all cut due to the low cloud, overcast at 400 feet and visibility was down to 2000 metres at some points :(

It nearly took me as long to get out of the car park as what it did to get back home  , they were estimating 40000 visitors, mainly due to that this is the first display in 2 years and the fact that the avro vulcan was there, unfortunately that was a major casualty to the weather also and never flew.

There was however some excitement with a role demo from 2 GR4 tornado's and when the red arrows went through, noisest was the Eurofighter, but he too had to call it short because of the weather.

The Vulcan reminds me of an old joke about the connection between the runway in the Falklands and Spok's mother!!
