Kintyre Amateur Swimming Club trials soon....

Postby Ship called Dignity » Thu Aug 10, 2006 9:39 pm

The club will hold a trial for new members. The purpose of this trial is to ensure that the swimmer is placed in the correct training group for their ability and development.

The trial will take place on Monday 28th August, 6pm in Aqualibrium.

At the trial you will need to be able to demonstrate the following to our coach:

· a front somersault from floating position.

· a crouching or standing dive.

· swim 25 metres freestyle with good technique.

· swim 25 metres backstroke with good technique.

· swim 25 metres breaststroke with good timing.

· attempt butterfly arms and legs together for 5 metres.

· tread water for 45 seconds then swim 25 metres.

Do you need to be able to do all of those just to get in, or is there an option for people who can't to learn?

Not asking for myself as I hate swimming with a passion, but just curious.

"swim 25 metres freestyle with good technique"
"swim 25 metres backstroke with good technique"
"swim 25 metres breaststroke with good timing"

Does that mean that if you turn up first, the breaststroke is in the bag

I believe you have to be older than five :)
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you!

Hi all, just some more info based on the messages above - there is no age restriction, the only restriction is swimmimg ability which will be judged by the list- and all of these will need to be achieved.

The aim of the swimming club is to coach stroke techniques and work on :D stamina for the medal winners of the future (hopefully ! ) and is the next step after swimming lessons.
It takes dedication and the swimmers are expected to work hard.- but have fun and keep fit too.

Aqualibrium are running an excellent programme of swimming lessoms for all abilities, so if a "brush up" is needed then they can oblige. phone them on 551212.
Eventualy they will referr swimmers who have gone through the lessons programme to the club who have the ability.

Is it the club's intention to compete in the Winter Leagues etc?

hi Jonathan, yes hopefully - It will be a while before the swimmers are ready with not having a pool for 5 years but once we get going the plan will be to raise funding and take the swimmers to competitions and galas.
