There's no wit in sarcasim Red, you only need to ask and you'll be told the reason why. The Pupils/Boys merger is good for local football, as it will provide a platform for younger members to push through to the highest level they can achieve. There is no malice in asking the players who will be considered for a Scottish Amateur League place to stop playing in non-affiliated football. If the Campbeltown & District League was an official organisation then there would be no reason to ask them to stop - they then could decide for themselves what club they wanted to play for. However; as this is not the case, the Pupils are forced by the SAFL rules to have their players regestered for one club only, and, that club be an affiliate member of both the SAFL and SAFA.

Simple, rules are rules - nothing to do with big time johnny's as you suggest.

Surely this is only good for the Campbeltown & District League, as it allows youngsters and people outwith the SAFL to have a league of their own.

so how does that work for the kintyre athlectic team that has lads that could play in the safl? surely it is good to see these boys getting a game? there are some boys who just want to play football so why stop them? especeally the ones who probably wont harldy ever play for the pupils

Hello Bud,

This is an arguement that is consistent throughout Scotland. Its not the individual club that stops people playing, but the rules of the national association. If you play in an affiliated league, you must regester for one club only. In the past you were allowed to play in affiliated Sunday football as well - now you must choose one or the other.

I'm not one who agrees with this, as an amateur player should be allowed to play as often as he wants - but that is not the case now.

Both the Pupils first and second strings have to be regestered - hence the restriction on CDFL football.

Im sorry rtodd31, this is the case! If boys from Tarbert or Red Star decide to play within the CDFL - they do so illegally. Best left alone, as they seem to enjoy there game and no one is the slightest bit bothered.

However, it would be a different matter if someone complained. That's what we are trying to avoid by playing completely within the rules of the SAFL. Its something we will always do - anything different would be completely crazy.

Only trying to act responsibly - not maliciously.

I hope this ends the conversation, as I wish the CDFL the very best, and, hope you all enjoy the rest of the season.
