Tarbert march to promotion!

Postby Sport » Tue May 02, 2006 9:30 pm

Well done to Tarbert who won 2-0 away to Eaglesham B at the weekend.

This now leaves the Kintyre side just 3 points away from promotion to the SAFL Division One.

Tarbert only need 1 point from their remaining two fixtures to gain promotion afte Rosehil Thistle beat Strathkelbvin last night 4-0 to more or less clinch the league.

Tarbert now play hosts to Rosehill Thistle this Saturday so perhaps a nice 1-1 draw will suit everyone!

Tarbert's last game is away to Busby B on the 13th May 2006.

Good luck boys!

Game was cancelled as the pitch had been flooded with the thunderstorms on Thursday. Re-scheduled for next weekend.

Tarbert finished off their season with a 4-0 win over the Boys in a friendly at Cil Andreis on friday night.

A great end to a very good season for us.

Sorry to see both the Boys and the Pupils not doin so well, hope they both can turn it around for next season.

Yip Hong Kong Phooey - a rather convincing two leg win over the young boys team.

Seems you have not a bad wee team there with the mix of youth and experience.

Congratulations to everyone at the club on your promotion! Well Done!

Perhaps arrange a pre-season friendly in August? Mind you, by what I was hearing it was far from friendly and your name is quite apt!

Regards

Twas a good result for us, we have a pretty young team, the only player on the park for us over 30 was the gaffer!

The committment of the lads over the season has been tremendous, 4/5 of the players are away at uni or work in glasgow and edinburgh and still travel thru to play every game. The boys in the village always make the effort to train together despite the low numbers, lack of facilities in the winter etc.

Its almost traditional for us to have a pre-season game vs the Boys!

Regarding the game itself i think some of the Boys players let frustration get the better of them, the ref let A LOT of late tackles go.

As far as the handbags went, I left mine in the changing room! I'm just a mild-mannered janitor!

STAY COOL!

Aye, I was rather impressed with Tarbert when you played here in Campbeltown - alot of good young players.

We actually haven't played pre-season for some time now - more recently been Lochgilphead but will arrange one for August and most certainly get the young flas to leave the handbags at home!
