For anyone who's interested, here's the match report from the SAFA website:
Drumchapel 1-0 Gartcosh Utd
The Final of this years Scottish Amateur Cup was played at Hampden Park on Sunday 29th May 2005 and was contested between Gartcosh United of the Scottish Amateur League and Drumchapel Amateurs of the Caledonian League.
The game started at a lively pace and Drumchapel were first to show when Peter Earl broke clear on the right side of the penalty box and hit a fine shot which narrowly missed the far post of the Gartcosh United goal with keeper Scott Wylie scrambling across.
Gartcosh United were quick to reply and from a corner John Barr had a free header which he headed over from about eight yards.
The deadlock, however, was broken when Man of the Match Thomas Murray latched on to an error by Michael Doolin on the half way line and he strode forward wide on the left waiting for support to arrive. He then looked up and delivered an inch perfect cross which was headered back across keeper Wylie by Alan Russell and into the net.
In the second half Gartcosh came at Drumchapel and in the space of a minute had two excellent chances to equalise. The first was squandered by Kriss McGuire when he shot weakly past after an excellent run by Christopher Power. The second was even closer when that man McGuire hit the bar from close range with the rebound being thumped to safety.
The Gartcosh Manager rung the changes in an effort to get back into the game. However, his efforts were nearly killed stone dead when keeper Wylie dropped the ball in an effort to save a corner straight at the feet of David Forbes but fortunately Colin Smith got back in time to boot the ball for a corner.
For all Gartcosh tried they failed to muster another decent opening and Drumchapel held on to clinch the win.
Congratulations from President Jack Keating and Honorary Match Secretary George Watson to both clubs for an excellent game and to Drumchapel Amateurs on their deserved victory.
