I'm just looking forward to the National holiday Alec Salmond will declare on Monday when we win today - followed by a snap election and a landslide SNP victory soon after!!!

If it was the Reporting Scotland news 4th Gen Suth’en was watching last night, then he will have seen my husband playing the pipes in the wee montage they showed at the end of the programme – at 28 minutes 10 seconds. We are not entirely sure, but think that it must have been Sweden in 1992, in Norrkøpping probably (thankfully I was not in the camera’s range!).

Getting very excited now … our week gang may well hook up with the CTA. :D

I hope you finally manage to pull a rabbit out the hat with your predictions Ionns.

One-nil will do for me, with an 89th minute deflected sclaff (although a dubious late penalty against the I-Ties would be even better, mind you).

Gutted!!!!

Postby oorly gourlay » Sat Nov 17, 2007 8:32 pm

Why oh why does the country that invented GLORIOUS BLOODY FAILURE continue to use it?????

OK we got a fair shake with Italy's disallowed goal and our offside goal but I felt that UEFA had decreed that the big two should be there to our detriment especially when an assault on Alan Hutton resulted in a foul that gave Italy the winner.

Do you think that UEFA might have given the ref more than his usual fee????? or has the most corrupt league in Europe prevailed again    :?:  :?:

How the linesman/ref gave a free kick to Italy is absolutely beyond me......a 100% certain foul on Hutton. The Italian barged him to the ground, fully expecting a free kick against him....he was just wasting time.

Unbelievable. No wonder Hutton, McLeish and everyone else is raging.

I dont think it was part of a conspiracy though......just unfathomable and unbelievable......

Kinda reminded me of Sandy Jardine being outstretched for a header at the far post against Yugoslavia in the '74 World Cup........put us 2-1 down in the last minute......same as tonight........

I feel drained and gutted and upset.............

BUT, sure it's only futtba' :?

Was absoluety gutted with the result, especially as we played far better tonight than we did in both games against france, they cheated all the way through the game, and if i'm completey honest i would've loved it if one the players had just hooked pirlo when he was taking that last corner. but at the end of the day mcfadden missed a sitter, and we're out so the wins against france mean nothing, but still people are celebrating like we've won the european championships, time to get a grip scotland.

The hype that was going on all week was unbelievable, the result was expected, but the way it came about was a disgrace, but in games like these you get very few chances, so if you dont take them when you get them, your going too get fcuked. Just like tonight...

two chances for italy, two defensive mistakes, two goals. Never a free kick but dealing with a set piece into the box should be bread and butter for a defence. Great effort through the campaign but we bottled it in the end. simple as that. Lets look forward to the WCQ.

Can anyone explain how this was an Italy free kick?

Absolutely gutted - team deserved a draw at least.
