Online forms for USA

Postby Govangirl » Thu Jul 23, 2009 11:58 am

Help! I'm going on holiday to the US in the next fortnight. You know that green form visitors have to fill in, it might actually be called the green form? Well, someone e-mailed me this morning to ask if I'd done it online as it is now compulsory! :<> Is that true? I asked Mr Govangirl, my fountain of all knowledge, who travels regularly and he said he completed it earlier this year and it has covered every trip this year for him but that to his knowledge, it is not compulsory although he will try and find out. I am, as always, extremely reluctant to prove my dearest other half wrong  but need to know this asap.

Looked this up when I read your post. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... rdeal.html

I haven't been in the US since 2007 so didn't know it had changed. We always just used to fill in the form given out on the plane before landing.

Thank you History! Shocked me, it did. I've sent it onto hubby. I went through it twice and unless it is me, I can't see where one fills in the online form? :?: :!: :@

Not sure if I am reading it right but do we now have to pay?

Thank you History. I sent the article you posted to my husband and he responded with this:

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html ... 59C2A25264

so it is practically the same. I will fill in the forms tonight. Thank you for all your help.

Just wondering though, what would have happened if I turned up at the airport without doing it?

They would likely not ask for it here and then send you back when you arrived. A round trip of 14 hours? :D

they still have them on the plane, big thing to remember is to have a pen with you. I traveled betwixt the US and the UK 3 weeks ago and only 3 people on the plane had a pen to fill out the damned form.

You'll find this boring Bobbie but we're going back to Washington. The kids really fancied it after we had been there last year and it was very difficult to find anywhere in the USA they hadn't been on holiday too over the last 12 years! I know they haven't been to Texas but that didn't appeal to them for some reason so my friend and I fancy that for October. We're in Washington the first week, Virginia the second.
