This year’s event marks five years of successful growth in sports coaching across Argyll and Bute and a continuing trend of quality courses developing quality coaches going into quality clubs.

2012 is a special year for sport. The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games bring the highest standards of sport to our country and Coaching Champions is honoured to have been given the London 2012 Inspire Mark that recognises innovative and exceptional projects.

This year’s programme offers 56 courses in a range of sports and activities and we have collected these in categories to help you choose. A number of courses are provided in Olympic and Paralympic sports as well as those that reflect our rural and island environment. Whether you are looking to develop your skills in a particular sport, want to learn more about sports coaching or want to try something new we are sure we have the right combination to attract you to Coaching Champions 2012.

Council's coaching champions event is inspired and that's official

Argyll and Bute Council’s Coaching Champions event in February is one of a select number ofevents in the UK which has been granted the Inspire mark by the London 2012 Inspire programme.

The London 2012 Inspire programme recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Mark will be carried on all publicity issued for the coaching conference which will take place in Oban during Febraury. With 56 courses from athletics to mountain skills there is something for everyone. Spokesperson Councillor Rory Colville said, “We’ve known for years that our coaching champions weekend is an inspiration both to coaches and the athletes they teach. Being given this Mark is a real accolade and is a huge recognition for the team who have put this event together over the past four years.”

Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said: ’The Inspire programme is ensuring the legacy of the 2012 Games starts now as projects like Coaching Champions are enabling people in Argyll and Bute to make positive life changes.’
