Another one for your 2012 calendar! Springbank Distillers, the oldest independent family owned distillery in Scotland (founded in 1828), have just announed their Open Day will be held on Thursday 24th May 2012.

Starting at around 11am, and continuing late into the evening, there will be a range of tastings, free tours all days, Fyne ales bar, local producers will have their goodies on display, pipe and brass bands, BBQ, special bottlings and of course a whisky bar...plus, we are sure, other things that we have missed!

To find out more about our wonderful distillery see http://www.springbankwhisky.com/ or follow Springbank on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/officialspringbankwhisky

You are advised to book accommodation well in advance. Listings can be found at www.kintyreaccommodation.com

Just to be clear, normal tours will be completely free of charge but there are four "masterclasses" or tasting sessions being held, which do carry a charge. There will also be whiskies available to taste In the Warehouse, at a cost of £5 for five vouchers - each sample will be worth one voucher.
