Kilkerran Castle

Postby lindaf » Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:46 pm

Did you know.....just before you get to Kilkerran Burial Ground, if you go down the grass slope to the narrow beach by the first bungalow, you can find some footings of the remains of Kilkerran Castle. Give yourself a bit of time to explore along here.
Apparently, the scanty remains stand in a cottage garden here where the ruins are incorporated in later out-buildings and garden walls, but their identification is made more difficult by the thick growth of ivy that now covers them.

I would say this ruined castle is a must explore destination for you if you are in Scotland. This is an incent piece of King James IV creation he bullied up in 1490. Although there is not so much you could see or explore but some of parapet wall and walkway are sign of the castle existence.
countdown to new year to get the best memories!
