Marquis Family of Tarbert.

I'm currently engaged in researching the Marquis family history. Alexander (circa 1790), Dugald (1823-1891), Dugald (1852-1914) were my great grandfathers.
Thanks to Angus Martin, I've now discovered that Alexander was born on the Island of Cara. He may have been the tacksman there, his father Donald, certainly was in the 1790s and his father Alexander was also the tacksman in the 1770s. This Alexander, possibly MacMarquis, was married to a cousin of Flora MacDonald of Bonny Prince Charlie fame.
Her brother was killed in an hunting accident on the Island while on a visit with his sister, shortly before she emigrated to the American Colonies in 1774.
Any relevant information welcome. Willing to share information already collected.
Stephen Marquis.
