Fishing Vessels Campbeltown

Postby keelan90 » Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:51 pm

Hi Everyone

I am inquiring after more information, or photos of a couple of fishing vessels.

My great grandfather, John McKenzie, was a skipper on the ring-net fishing boat 'Kingbird', which was owned by John Short.
My grandfather, John McKenzie, was skipper on the 'Golden Fleece' I do believe.
My great uncle, William Mustard McKenzie, was a fisherman aboard the 'Annie'.

Great grandfather John McKenzie had a heart attack aboard the Kingbird, and was transported via the Annie back to Campbeltown harbour, but died on its deck. It is said in his obituary that, 'Mr McKenzie was one of the oldest working fishermen in the Clyde herring fleet. He was well-known throughout the West of Scotland...'

If anyone can send me a link, or photos, or information on these men or vessels, please get in touch.

Thank you!
