stuart and I both diehards for last week. Well... kind of... only realised that the planks were 3 sets of 3 minutes after reading pans lass's post!

I don't really have time to do 9 minutes of planks (ouch  ) most of the time so if it's ok I'm staying with my 3 mins of planks (1 min normal, 1 min side, 1 min other side) and I'll try and increase it when i have time.

waiting on djd to check the rulebook on this one but wont that make you forever lightweights by only doing a third of what is laid down - i could say i only wanted to do 15 pushups for example :D
afterall the 9 mins of planks could be my way of killing you all off to allow me to win  same with tricep dips etc etc we all put in what we are strong at

As the rule state's,yes it would make you a light weight, but l think we should allow for the genuine mistake on this one occassion, and as good instructors know, we rather have something out someone than nothing.

Fiona28 has a very valid point,so l will let her cast the final decision on this one,and as she is a very good instuctor will come too a resonable outcome and compromise suggestion.

Fiona if the truth be known, you nearly killed everyone off in the second week (lol)

djd you started this thing, you should be taking all us women with a firm hand and saying what the outcome should be lol
to my mind if someone misunderstands then thats absolutely fine :D

but thats not the problem - elaine is saying she doesnt have time - so its not really that she cant do it is more a case of she wont!!!

so in fairness to all why dont we then just cut the planks down to 3 x 30 second sets then - we are all starting at very different levels so it is always going to be difficult to keep the masses happy but i think most folk are complaining about the time it takes not the exercise :D

hopefully this will make it easier for all to complete now  remember folks it is 100 times easier done on the knees than on the toes, and equally if you now find it too easy with the time reductions you can lift a foot or arm off the floor when in full plank mode and/or lift top leg up when in side plank mode.

Fiona28,you are absolutely right that we should do what is put down for all to do,as from next week the planks will go back to the original time,if you can't do them then its a lightweight and you have to play your joker.

Good on you Fiona, you forced my hand on this one, should not of passed the buck on to you,its my ball.(lol)

Remember at six weeks you get to drop a exercise of your choice or keep doing all the exercise's.

l for one will do them all as l am not running like you guys, but even if l was, l would still be doing the exercise that would have the most impact and rewards at the end and the plank would be in that list at 9 min for the 3 sets.

By the way l like the exercise that lsla has us down for,the calves are hurting me a bit this morning.

Hopefully we are back on track now on ref this little hiccup.

agh the planks!

mine was a misunderstanding but could not face the thought of 9 mins of the killer planks so was thinking I would have to move to to lightweight and then maybe bail...

but have today, warmed up/ enthused from Gigha, started a catch up prog for this week, before I read the 30 sec plan!

do recognise that good for core muscles that running doesn't reach - so hopefully diehard this week

DJD have you overuled Fiona's ligher version :(

Yes but not till next week then after that its week 6, then you can drop the 9min and revert to 30 sec plank as long as you have 6 full exercises of reps that have been set, and then keep the 30sec planks as you wish, for we know they are a great exercise as an extra.

Personally I have been doing the 9 mins planks over the last few weeks so would want to continue with what is set out until such times we can change it . For those finding it hard why not try do one set of each excercise once as set out then back to another set until all 3 are complete . It really makes a difference and takes approx 30 mins plus .

Final set done on this morning on the island of Gigha with the added support from Fiona , Caro and Joc :D :D

Not sure what the Gigha folk thought of 4 women lying on towels outside their chalet in the blazing sunshine this morning trying to be diehards this week but we completed them in style . So .....

pans lass = diehard :D

Wondered if you did the last lot in the Gigha sunshine - i did similar in privacy of own garden. Definately diehard this week - caught up on the planks that i had missed on previous weeks (genuine mistake  ) and also managed 10 x3 of Elaine's tricep dips so will aim for 3 x 15 this week :). Then went for first sea swim of the year which numbed away all the niggles from overdose of planks.

you lot are hysterical  yes djd we were all wishing we had a camera between the four of us that had a battery in it  you would have been proud of us doing our nine minute planks in the sunshine, yip pans is right i reckon gigha thought a new cult or religious sect was worshiping the sun this morning - dont know what they made of the tricep dips on top of the garden bin thingey!!!

fair enjoyed the exercises with the company girls - well done :D
fiona 28 - diehard this week :D

i made a personal improvement today on mine and managed 2 sets of 15 full push ups instead of my usual set on knees, set full out then set on knees  so feeling the benefits

im thinking when i have to drop one it will be via changing my plank to one two minute hold on my front and a two minute hold on each side. its a little shorter in time but maybe more testing :D
plan to continue with 9 mins this week also.

great to hear from the girls this morning how they have been improving over the weeks.

It was great fun to do the exercises with company today and in a breathtaking location. Not to mention that I actually finished the 3 sets before 10pm on a Sunday night! So diehard for me this week.

It's my turn to do the exercise this week and I'm going to give my wee arms a break, so its sit-ups for a change.

Lie on the floor, knees bent and slightly apart, and keeping your lower back straight, lift your upper body off the floor and extend your arms through your knees. Try to keep your back straight and not pull yourself up using your arms and shoulders. 20 sit-ups, 3 reps.

Hope that makes sense. Enjoy.
