Wee Toon Runners 5 Race Series 2013

Postby DJD » Sun Apr 07, 2013 9:53 pm

Hi All

Just to start the ball rolling for the Wee toon Runners 5 race Series 2013. We don't need to mention how running in Campbeltown has been over the last 5 years, for it speaks volumes for it's self, no matter if you are in a group or a self motivated runner that takes to the road and runs them hard miles just to beat and get the best from your own perpective.

This 5 Race serise along with the fun and the banter and respect from all participants has a part to play in keeping you ticking along to your next goal, whether you are a racing snake or just a big hearted runner who enjoys running with a goal that is along the path to improving.

Enough spiel (lol) as I hear someone "thank god for that"

Here are the dates and some venues for the series

Race 1 May 14th 2013 (venue to be confirmed)

Race 2 June 25th 2013 (venue to be confirmed)

Race 3 July 30th 2013 ( venue Runners choice)

Race 4 August 27th 2013 ( venue Westport Beach)

Race 5 Sept 24th 2013 (venue Campbeltwon).

We will confirm on all, as the time get nearer, also they might be subject to change on a short notice.

We are looking forward to seeing new and old faces to make this a great 5th year and for some, a great 25 race turn up. John Galbraith, Darren Renton, have so far done 20 races and without putting the commentators curse on them, we hope to see them achieve the big 25.

Please get in touch if you fancy entering, but don't have a recorded time, we will sort that out, or just turn up at the race.

Thanks.

Hi All

Just waiting for confirmation of the 1st venue of the 5th Handicap race series, till then here is the up to date race details

Race 1

Date: Tuesday 14 May 2013

Venue: Machrihanish Mod

Time: 1900hrs

Distance: 3 mile

Terrain Tarmac

We need an up to date list of runners who will be involved through out the series, sorry but that means OLD/NEW runners. On doing this it will cut back on the work load that we need to do on getting the handicaps right, so the events can run smoothly and fairly.

Please either, put your name on here or FB. (not that I do FB) but someone will pass on your info, or even verbally up to the 12th May, after that you are welcome to turn up and run on the night and timed but not on the count towards the series.

They can be a real hurting or fun running races, but most of all a chance to improve your racing speed or goal setting with a great bunch that have now been doing them on and off for the last 5 years now. New faces are warmly welcomed.

The Juniors have done well over the last 2 years, so it would be nice to see a few more having a bash at it.

Thanks

Hi All,

I have amended and now can confirm that the above post is at Machrianish Mod establishment. Airfield run. Please can everyone try and be there for 18:30hrs as we will be taken to the start. There is plenty of parking, but as usual can we try and car share if possible.

Most folk know where it is, but for the ones that don't, it is out towards The Sound of Kintyre past Dalochan Farm and is the Ist on your left sigh posted Machcrihanish Mod.

This will be a peach of a run (weather permitting) so come along and run this unique venue.

Many thanks to all that have made this possible, see you all on the night, especially new faces and of course the regulars.

Thanks

Hi All,

What a great venue for the 1st run of the 5th Series 2013. Big pat on the back to Allan Reid, Douglas Ferguson, and anyone else involved. We as a community of runners, thank you for your hospitality and a great experience.

Well done to all that came and put their running to the test tonight, we hope you got a wee bit something out of it, because we did, and that was to the fact the everyone ran their pretty hearts off and the fella's ran their Bolloc/T shirts off (lol) .

A big thanks goes to Suzy, Alison, Dougie, for what I see is the hardest task overall and that to get it all alright at the end.

Times and places will be up as soon possible, any come backs, please pm me as I take the can.

Well done all, we are very proud to be part off what was a good run tonight.

Thanks

Hi All,

Just a couple of things for you to note. You will be pleased to hear that we are going into the next race with the times you produced on Tuesday. This will enhance a closer finish for all, (nightmare for us but exciting) at the next meet, which we hope is Chiskan.

You probably noticed that we have omitted the clock time and real time, this is because we want to try and keep the outcome of the male/female awards on the presentation night a wee bit more interesting than if we put all the info up on here.

Secondly it might inspire some runners to train a wee bit more, (quality stuff) so they can catch their nearest rival if they can see where they stand against them.

Thanks
