Campbeltown Sprint Triathlon - 25th August 2012

Our sprint triathlon takes place in the stunning setting of Campbeltown and offers you a breathtaking scenic event. The route consists of a 750m pool based swim held in the aqualibrium, followed by a 20k loop bike run to Machrihanish and back , finishing with a 5k run from low askomil to water hill and down high askomil.

You can find details on how to enter on our website, http://multisport.me/campbeltown-sprint.

Why not “Tri” and help Discover Swimming raise £5000 for Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) whilst taking part in a terrific event in 2012?

Discover Swimming has partnered with CHAS to help raise £5000 which will help support the children, young people and families that use Robin House in Balloch, Rachel House in Kinross and the CHAS at Home service across Scotland.

At CHAS the focus is on creating wonderful memories for families in the time they have together, no matter how short that might be. Why not create some fantastic memories of your own at a Discover Swimming event and help CHAS support children and young people across Scotland with life shortening conditions.

We are offering free places to anyone willing to raise a minimum of £250 for CHAS.

If you are interested then please contact Jon Heggie at CHAS jonheggie@chas.org.uk or 01577 865 222) or you can simply place a donation online information to follow.

Sounds like an interesting initiative, Multisport. And obviously for an extremely worthwhile cause.

The date of the event is not obvious from this post. On the site that you link to the closing date is listed as 11 August. Is this the date of the event too?

Thanks for the invitation, multisport ... but I won't be participating.

One thing to note: This is the same date as Cowal Games, and a lot of people - particularly those with family members who compete there - will be away from the crack of dawn until the wee small hours.

Otherwise, it is the English Bank Holiday weekend, and so you could be able to attract people on that basis.

Out of interest, what local groups are involved in the organising, marshalling, etc?

Cheers, Mary G

Thanks for taking the time to register and post Multisport. Great to see another event in Campbeltown and as discussed by e-mail we are only too happy to support your event in any way we can. (and will get your own area asap!)

Mary, as far as I know it has involved the Council and both committee members of Jog Scotland, Campbeltown Running Club, Sports Council and MOKRUN (ie Fiona Irwin and Elaine McGeachy).
