A few folk have been asking for the dates of the festival in 2008.

The festival is always the weekend before the Cowal Games - which itself is always the last Saturday of August. In 2008 Cowal is on Sat 30th so the festival will run from Thu 21 to Sun 24 Aug.

The Cowal thing makes it appear as if we keep changing the dates. What happens is - like this year - when the last day of August is a Friday then Cowal is on Sat 25th so the festival has to go as early as the 18th.

Hope this explains it and that you all manage to get your holidays etc sorted out okay!

Thanks for that. I had it pencilled in for the 3rd weekend in August, which is the weekend before your dates. Would have been partying all by myself!

Yes, that's why I asked. There are 5 weekends in August next year, so it wasn't clear-cut.
Looks like the sign will have to be changed!

Willie D has it spot on ... it is not always the second last weekend in August, since if Cowal is on the 31st, and the Festival the weekend before, then that makes it the last full weekend in August.

The only fail-safe thing to do is work it out, as described by Willie D ... just a pity his description won't fit on the sign
