On the contrary MrsBagpuss, you, me and every household in Britain pay SSE and the other power generators £12 a year in Renewable Option Certificates subsidies, hence they are well able to afford the vast ranks of media and PR Teams to lobby on their behalfs. It is not suprising they win over many converts.

There are £45,000 households in Kintyre and at £12 a household that is £540,000 in subsidies...but don't worry once they have destroyed our coastline they will give us back £200k of that back in community compensation - everyone's a winner!

My daughter showed me a Facebook page today calling for people to support the proposed Windfarm! I was gobsmaked. The majority of people don't stay here (I did not note ONE from Machrihanish) or are employed in the industry. Some make comments about being a NIMBY. I find this insulting. If for one second you could put yourself in my position as a villager then perhaps you would realise that there is nothing wrong with MNIMBYISM because, you see, it is my backyard!

Lets have a Public Meeting in the Victoria Hall and see if these people are so arrogant! The debate on this forum has opened up other views which are welcomed but putting mindless comments about having a cheek to oppose this monstrosity is outright ignorance!

Well said! I agree that there has been a healthy debate on the subject but not when folk who have a vested interest seek to influence opinion. Sorry, but there's been a lot of piffle spouted on this thread and to me, the views of the residents should be at the forefront.

This was a photo submitted for the Photo of the Week competition the www.visitkintyre.info site used to run. Taken by Malcolm McFadyen it shows his younger brother at the Gauldrons. (thanks for the permission to post this) There has been a few photos showing what it might look like and I thought it would be good to remind everyone what it looks like now. 8)

LO - I think you'll find that link was Govangirld not mine  I think thats really bad form to accuse me of that in this way. If having a different opinion from the masses is going to result in this type of thing, I'm really sad :( not to have the freedom just to take part in a discussion where by I can talk about my opinion as freely as the others with out being branded as having done so as part of a political campaign.

Brilliant, so now if you're in favour of windfarms you're part of a "sleeper cell" funded by SSE or the wind industry.    I'm devastated that, after 4 years of posting on the Forum to establish our cover for this mission, we've been rumbled just at the end point.

So unless you have a particular view you're either talking "piffle" or are a "numpty" ........ very grown-up debate.

No - it was quite clearly you're post that I flagged up - GGs link just happened to be in the middle of it......

In hindsight, maybe it wasn't fair to single you out when there were other more blatant examples masquerading as car number plates......

....... as opposed to masquerading as a set of initials  This is getting to the silly stage now!

LO - I dont understand why you think I have some kind of motive? I dont know about masquerading as numberplates - its the same as using initials or usernames, this type of forum and discussion flourishes as a result of the annonimity provided by such. Number plates and initials in a small town are easily worked out - I've sussed quite a few! 8) My contribution to the discussion was merely to discuss possible advantages of the windfarm IF it was to go ahead, as I think I have said before I'm not a campaigner FOR it, I just dont feel that negitively about it either.

Having re read the post you have singled out as possibly having political or other motives I can really not see where you are coming from, its just an angle on a discussion and some possible questions to discuss further.

Sorry to burst your bubble Sheik but you were certainly not the target for my post .To be honest I don't normally read your contributions as life is too short but this one caught my eye - a perfect encapsulation of your undoubted higher intelligence, smugness and ability to condescend all in the one place. Absolutely delightful as ever.....

Of course there are genuine contributors to both sides of the debate and who would have a problem with that? However, equally there are a few new "just here to help" posters that have appeared out of the ether with an obvious script and no ammount of bluster, rolling eyes and ridicule from you (or anyone else) can deflect from that.

..... and sorry to burst yours LO, you were not the target of my post, it was StephenJ who brought up the initial theory.

I am dismayed if my posts which were intended to be informative have been construed as being onbehalf of the power companies, or turbine manufacturers. My first post began with my introducing myself, and my user name is not somthing I'm hiding behind - indeed my wife was not too happy at me using the car reg as it is her that drives the car and was worried about being caught up in any wrangles.

Thats my final comment on the forum. I am sorry it has come to this I was indeed hoping to be of help, from an insiders angle I may well have been useful.

Good luck with your campaign.
