Ray Davies has recruited Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, the Killers and Lucinda Williams to help him re-record classic Kinks tracks for a new album due out late 2010.

Bill, I am not being controversial here but can you explain the fascination for this man and his music - or anyone on here for that matter? I feel his songs have no depth at all. He was certainly interesting although I did find his nostalgic ramblings a bit grating - as his solipsism which you have mentioned. I am aware that some think he has made a significant contribution to rock and roll but really, I just don't get it. Sorry

Well GG what is to explain?Just because you "don't get it" only reinforces the fact that we are all different.I "don't get"your fascination with Bruce Springsteen.I do realise though that millions of people do.The same as you should accept that millions of people rate Ray Davies,including Springsteen.

No, no, you have misinterpreted my request. I can explain my fascination with Springsteen but I am genuinely interested in the contribution that Davies made. I know very little about his music and after watching this programme I realised he was more significant that I had realised. I was just that wee bit too young to be in to The Kinks ( ) and I want to learn why this music is so important. I am NOT being controversial, I really want to know more about their music and as there are real fans on here with passion for his music, I thought I'd ask. I do want to know!
