The Argent

Postby Crowth » Sun Mar 31, 2013 12:39 am

I'm quite surprised to see that pictures of the stricken Argent are yet to be posted on the forum, I know for certain that one or two photographer friends of mine have some good captures so hopefully this thread will get the ball rolling. I managed to get down to Macringans Point twice during the saga of the Argents demise, the first time was a week after it became fast and the second was the day before it disappeared altogether. The first four shots are from 29th December last year and the second four are from a fortnight ago, 17th March:

High quality stuff as per usual Crowth.I like the classy bench that you have constructed.Very Art Nouveau!
On a serious note. What happened to salvage?I would have thought that any insurance company would want to recover some of their losses.

Roger, that bench is now in my living room

Re: Salvage. Allegedly, drink was involved in the circumstances leading up to the grounding, voiding the insurance.

Oh dear!I suppose the cost off recovery would be prohibitive.

Some great shots Crowth, I only managed down two times and this is one from my second visit to the 'Argent' fishing vessel, I waited for the light to fade and the Lighthouse to start flashing as I felt it was missing from the photo on my first visit
I wished I managed to get some more before it was all gone but I just couldn't find the time :(

Good shot. At least you managed to see it up close at low water, Fraser.
