What's this, a young Bochan?

Who's this that's been creeping about the back of the Heritage Centre, drinking from an old clam shell?

He certainly wasn't shy. Mrs Pongal was fearing it that it was some strain of Super Bochan. You know those ones that when you chop a limb off, another two grows.

I tried following him into the rhodies and came across a blanket and an old tarpaulin and a hell of a stash of empty absynth bottles, Nescafe jars and pulped coffee mate boxes.

What's going on?

I'm certainly damned if I know. Has anyone else seen this, as it certainly doesn't appear every day?
Don't jeest leave it at yer erse, everything has a place ....................so keep it Pongal!

Certainly looks like stray Bochan to me! However, I dinna ken the wee beggars came oot in the day time!

Wherever did you capture a photo of this spectacular specimen, and has the Bochan Mor seen the photo yet?

That's naw a bochan at all. He's got the wrong colour of eyes and far too short in the leg.

Anyway, here we are at Hogmanay again, expecting the usual procession of foolish crofters over the threshold in the next 48 hours.

Morenish was nearly clapped in irons by the firemaster last year after his fire eating performance in here. I had poured him a bumper from the Springbank bottle and he sharked it to the back of his thrapple, only to discover that it was some of Witchnettle's vintage sloe gin.

Well it was fully atomised by the time it hit the blazing fire, almost setting the lum on fire.

Talking of irons, was that Mrs Morenish heading into Witchnettle's emporium with a suitcase of crushed boilersuits and string vests?

Anyway, I'm locking the door around 10pm tonight, and won't be re-opening it until the 8th of January!

Well, 'tis a good idea to keep Morenish away from the Springbank at Hogmanay. There's no telling where he'll end up on January 1 or 2 or maybe even a week or so later.

 :D 8)  :P

Ironing Boards

Postby Sanyanya » Mon Jan 01, 2007 2:28 pm

I have never had the pleasure of well creased trousers or shirts passed over an ironing board. I remember my mother used to throw an old iron into the cinders, but the grass in the field made a right mess of my fathers good white shirts, so much so that some folk in the office thought that they hadn't been washed at all.

I thought somebody would have posted a few snaps from the pantomime in the hall. After all, the rest of the peninsula should have been able to share the delight of Basil in his war paint. Of course, there were a few other revelations as well, with some real characters coming to the fore. Surely JD, Beachcomer or Bochan could lay their hands on a few tranparencies?

What about the power in the village, have they managed to switch it back on yet? I ended up down at my old auntie's last night for a heat. There was a spectacular blue flash in the sky, just as I was galloping past Ardnacross. Initially I thought that it was lightning, but it lingered too long, so I expect that it was a short circuit with the power lines. Did somebody manage to clear that pesky tree at Kiloran? I got absolutely soaked walking through it last night and now my face looks like it's been tackled by a hive of very cross bees.

There are a few pics from the panto on The Carradale Goat website, under the 10-12-06 entry. Enjoy!

The power came back on a few minutes ago, around 2pm.

I did see a couple of reflective jackets out that way yesterday evening and now it's all cut-up so the road's clear again. Another tree down across the walk from Sally's to the avenue.

Were they from a performance or dress-rehearsal? Like you say, nice sharp close-ups.

How did your video turn out?

Haven't seen much of JD lately.

I'm led to believe that they were taken from 4 rows back during one of the main performances.

Then again, can you believe anything that your told in this damn village?

I never thought that Carradale could be, or should be, duplicated. I always thought of it as a one of a kind town, especially on Tuesdays! HAHAHA!!!

Oh Bobbie, they say it is still to come. We have been very lucky so far. A lot of freezing rain and ice though, and quite a few neighborhoods have been out of power for a while! We still have to get through February!

 :? :D :)
