you canna beat the boys fae the village for talking sh!te, maist of it good, some of it bad, a good sprinklin of ah right, it'll dae to be gettin on wae, but sh!te ah the same, same smell, different subject.
poor white settler, they mean no harm, it's the way they were brought up, some of them may well have even been born in the summer hoose so you can understand their feelings towards visitors, nevermind, once you've been there for, what is it now? it's come down a bit, 30yrs is it? well once you've been there for 30 yrs they'll think of you as a low toonie, then it's only a matter of a generation or two before your accepted as one of their own.
i used to joke that i didn't need a passport to get into carradale, maybe seeing the way they treat someone who will hopefully add to the chances of keeping the post office open (you being retired you'll need to go for a stamp every other day, won't you?) i might just have to get one, but i hear you never go back, theres another thread where i realised it's 26 years since i made what you would call an appearance in the village, no not a spectacle, old joke, but i think of the dear green place every day and my freen iain fae tesco keeps me up to date with the goings on and the rangers too,
a wee tip for you, if you go into the local bar, don't go throwing your car keys on the counter, you might end up going home with the wrong wife!!!!!
